Congratulations to Unmil Karadkar for successfully defending his dissertation!  The advisor is Richard Furuta.

Congratulations to CSDL students who successfully defended in August.  These include DoHyoung Kim, Ph.D. (Frank Shipman, Advisor), Anna Zacchi, Ph.D.

Congratulations to Paul Logasa Bogen II who successfully defended his dissertation in August 2011 and will be awarded the PhD in the Fall 2011 ceremony.  Paul's dissertation is titled "Intelligent Information Interaction for Managing Distributed Collections of Web Documents."  His co-advisors are Richard Furuta and Frank Shipman.

Congratulations to Said Kashoob who successfully defended his dissertation in December 2010 and will be awarded the PhD in the Spring 2010 ceremony.  Said's dissertation is titled "Community-oriented Models and Applications for the Social Web."  His advisor is James Caverlee.

Congratulations to Paul Davis, who will be awarded the PhD in the Winter 2010 commencement ceremony.  Paul's dissertation, titled "Learning Usability Assessment Models for Web Sites" was co-advised by Frank Shipman.

HRBB 406 is a shared space for usability testing and servers. Currently there are four Linux Ubuntu systems for testing and multiple desks for low-fidelity studies or usage of personal laptops in a controlled environment.
 
We ask that researchers schedule their time to not overlap as we do not want their subjects to be distracted by other studies going on simultaneously.

The CSDL Conference room features a large conference table with telephone and video conferencing capabilities in addition to a front-projected SmartBoard that can be operated via a dedicated Windows system or through a your own laptop.

All CSDL servers will be down on and off starting on Monday 10/4/10 because of installation of new air conditioning.  We hope to be back up late on 10/5/10, but this will depend on whether things go as planned with the contractor, etc.  We have set up a twitter account for announcements that we may need to make while our servers are down.  Follow @tamucsdl for those tweets.
